Welcome to the second issue of Raretoshi Roundup, an overview of the most dank mints, OG Bitcoin artists, and rare happenings on Raretoshi.

We continued to onboard Bitcoiners from diverse artistic backgrounds from all over the world, and have been continually humbled by the community’s interest in digital and physical art minted on layer-2. We look forward to building out this incredible and exciting space with input from the Bitcoin community every step of the way.

Over the next several weeks, the Raretoshi community can expect many of the features you all requested to be implemented, including gifting, more ways to organize and display art, dark mode, updated preview links, and much, much more.

Be sure to subscribe to us here on Medium to stay updated on new releases and features.

New Kids on the Block(chain)

We want to take the opportunity to share some of the talented artists who joined us recently and their unique work that make the Raretoshi community one of a kind.

If you want to support Bitcoiners and Bitcoin art, follow the artists on Twitter and check out their portfolios by clicking on the featured images below. Many artists also have physical art companion pieces that would look great at an office or citadel.

Dank Deal of the Month

If you have yet to leap into the world of NFTs, the Scammyboos series from Scam Artist might be a perfect entry point. The ongoing series is hilarious, well crafted, and a fun way to keep record of some of the biggest FUDsters and their shenanigans. Here are a few of our favorites:

For the complete collection of Scammyboos exclusively on Raretoshi, see here.

Pepe Crosses the Metaverse (and Survives)

Last month, Bitcoin journalist and Rare Pepe collector Juan Galt pulled some clever internet wizardry to migrate an OG Rare Pepe trading card (PEPETHUGLIFE) from Counterparty to Liquid. The mad lad even burned the CP one, so the original only lives on through the Liquid sidechain, truly making it one of a kind on Raretoshi. We highly recommend reading about the entire process on Galt’s blog.

Bitcoin Gaming

In the previous issue of Raretoshi Roundup, we shared how films like Silhouettes are using NFTs to supersede the rigid distribution model that has historically been costly and debilitating for independent filmmakers. Today, we wanted to explore the NFT gaming industry, which is helping small, independent games thrive in a competitive market dominated by big studios.

Light Nite is one project reshaping gaming by integrating Bitcoin and NFTs in their business model and player experience. Light Nite is a third-person battle royale game on the Elixir Gaming Platform that lets players earn sats and in-game assets such as skins, gear, and weapons. As an NFT, these in-game assets can then be sold or traded on the Elixir marketplace and even off-platform peer-to-peer for bitcoin and other NFTs.

Users can also withdraw their balance in bitcoin to a wallet of their choice or convert it to a gift card and directly access more than 4,000 stores worldwide. This bitcoin gaming model is an evolutionary step up from other economy-driven games like Second Life with vibrant marketplaces.

For a limited time, Raretoshi users can use this referral code to get 20% off their purchase of Light Nite and receive 500 sats.

Join the Community

One of the many things that separate us from other NFT marketplaces is our curation is focused on Bitcoin-derived art that is unique and thoughtful. You can never expect spammy monkey art from us, which makes art on Raretoshi less speculative and more substantive.

Whether you are a cartoonist, graphic designer, or traditional artist, there is a place for you at Raretoshi, and we encourage you to join our Telegram to see for yourself the organic community that has sprung up around the simple idea of Bitcoin art. Artists are always willing to help newcomers get started and guide them through the onboarding process.

We again want to thank the community for all of the support, and we look forward to exciting times ahead.
