Welcome to the first issue of Raretoshi Roundup, an overview of the dankest mints, most OG Bitcoin artists, and ultra-rare happenings from the past four weeks.

In August, we onboarded more artists than all previous months combined. With interest in Raretoshi steadily growing, we want to thank everyone for the show of support!

Meet and Greet

We also want to take the opportunity to share some of the talented artists who joined us last month and their unique perspectives that help make the Raretoshi community one of a kind.

Protip: by joining the Raretoshi Telegram, you can talk directly with artists, collaborate, and even learn about drops before official announcements. A great way to beat the crowds (wink wink).

Bitcoin Takeover

RYR

Triplanar

Triplanar’s ‘Bitcoin Topology Sculptures’ series is live on Raretoshi and will be followed up with a new animated series soon.

Most Dank Deal

If you have yet to take the leap into the world of NFTs, this next offer might be a perfect entry point.

CypherpunkNow is giving away 100 copies of ‘Cypherpunks of the World,’ a tribute to the trailblazers of the cypherpunk movement. He is accepting all offers, which means for as little as 1,000 sats (the lowest bid price on Raretoshi), it can be yours.

If you want something a little more rarified, of the series’ 11 original portraits, David Chaum, Timothy C. May, Wei Dai, Phil Zimmerman, John Gilmore, Julian Assange, and Eric Hughes remain. Patrons can learn more about the project and the history behind it by reading our write-up.

Under the Radar

With so much going on (tweeting is important work), it can be hard to keep up with all the artwork minted on Raretoshi. Here are several art pieces that might have flown under your radar.

‘Salina’ is a physical canvas portrait and one-of-a-kind mint from Karan4d. The composition is heavily texturized using custom GAN models and is part of his ongoing series centered on multi-entity portraiture.

Gus GG, a member of the original Rare Pepe crew, has four editions left of his psychedelic ode, ‘Hyperbitcoinization.’ The NFT depicts a hand-drawn mesoamerican skull typically found at an ancient tzompantli.

NFT News

NFT use cases go beyond the proof of ownership of digital collectibles. They can also empower creatives by giving them the financial autonomy to bypass gatekeepers and the ability to interact directly with audiences.

In an industry first, the independent sci-fi film Silhouettes is selling exclusive streaming access via an NFT on the Liquid Network. Using the NFT distribution model, filmmakers can maintain financial and creative control over their movies.

The model can also elevate the way audiences experience and interact with content. For example, early sign-ups for Silhouettes received two exclusive art pieces (in addition to the tokenized ticket) to commemorate the film’s release. In the future, filmmakers could utilize NFTs in many capacities, such as giving audiences unlockable alternative endings or behind-the-scenes content.

Movie lovers can stream Silhouettes and pick up their exclusive NFT ticket tub by visiting the film’s official website.
